I've chipped the jar doing that. 😬 Implements work in a pinch, but I'm not fond of chipped glass in my jar.

I usually bonk the edge of the jar on the floor to break the seal. Less scary on sheet vinyl than a hard floor, but whatever works...I'm not tall enough to use the counter

Spoon under the lid, give it a wiggle and you’ll hear the suction release

I actually turned a spoon backwards and break the seal works better than a butter knife and no keep cutting your hand

I broke both my wrists in a 4 month period a couple years ago and opening jars SUCKS so I def will be getting the jar opener but I do use a butter knife if I really need to

If anyone can’t afford the Jar Opener a spin is an effective way to pop a seal also
