Went to England a few years ago and quite of few of the sit down eateries have auto gratuity. Honestly so much easier than calculating tip

So I am from Germany no we have very strict no Smoking rules in Most of European countries. Some countries have designated Smoking rooms in Restaurants but only a few.

The added gratuity is an amazing idea. I can't speak for everyone in England obviously, but in my experience tipping is not a big thing in England. It's a nice gesture if you have the spare cash, but not as "mandatory." Moving to the US was a big culture shock for me, especially with the signing and writing the tip on the receipt. I had to learn how that works.

I just don’t get it, add 20% across the menu and pay the staff their percentage instead of this back and forth with non tippers regardless of where they are from. Staff are happier and patrons understand that this is their bill without the quandary or guilt
