Check out Mary Stewart’s Merlin series as well (my dad used to read them to me as a kid so they definitely are nostalgic but they still stand out even without the memories)

I’d recommend ‘The Other Merlin’. Find the humour a little cringe sometimes but generally very good and an interesting take on the Arthurian legend. Also the dynamic between characters reminds me of Merlin so much. Basically Merlin is a female wizard who disguises herself as a boy to work towards becoming a court wizard. Arthur and Merlin end up getting together. Really saucey as well tehe 😌

Did my literary diss on arthuriana with a focus on this show! Highly Highly reccomend T.H Whites The Once and Future King- you can deffo tell the influences that the actors and writers took from this omnibus of novels.

I love these recs so much but the historical linguist in me needs to point out that Le Morte d'Arthur is not written in Old English, but in Middle English! As is Sir Gawain and the Greene Knight!
