@payingforpastme: I really hope they renew my lease because there’s no way I can get another apartment now.. I’ve been playing this game of doing what I can to keep my credit score as high as I can so I can get reduced rates on my debts so I had a chance at actually paying them down without the minimum payments being completely eaten up by interest but things are getting more expensive and it’s more exhausting and unrealistic than ever to make $500 plus a month in side hustles. I know other people do it, but it takes time and I don’t have the time to build the foundations of what I need to be making that type of money without going into even more debt in the mean time. I have truly given this my all and there’s nothing left to give without majorly affecting my 9 to 5 and my ability to show up as a parent. #debt #debtpayoff #bankruptcy #creditscore #debttransparency

I filed for bankruptcy & it was absolutely the best thing I ever did for myself. I know it’s scary! But it is soooo temporary!! Getting my credit score back up was honestly so easy! I was scared to try but once I did, it was a very smooth process! So happy for you for choosing the financial freedom!

I went from a 740 credit score to 400 before filing bankruptcy. Now my debt is completely erased and my score is at 570 after filing alone. Waiting for my discharge to start rebuilding my credit

Debt used to keep me awake at night not knowing how I was gonna pay my bills now I’m 13 months post filing, 11 months post discharge. My credit score is back in the low 700s and my only regret (aside from getting into debt in the first place) is not having filed sooner

Do you have a budget, live below your means, and cut out extraneous spending?

Every time you renew your apartment, they don’t run your credit. The only time they would not renew your leases if you are not paying your current rent. Or you were a bad tenant in someway. So don’t worry about them running your credit if you want to renew. As long as you are currently in your rent, they’ll be no problem.

You can always call the credit card companies and ask for a hardship program. They can reduce your interest. Do that before you allow your credit to be hit.

Let it charge off and negotiate your debt. Save your money for the negotiation. 600 credit score isn’t lendable anyways. You’re still addressing your debt just having a hard ship

I filed bky back in march and went from a 720 down to 540 and omg it hurt. Won’t lie and say I didn’t cry especially when it was so difficult to get it up over the years and I never missed a single payment to anything. But I was paying $2700 a month in debt on a single income and was drowning. Finally up to 570 but i took 3 separate hits when I filed. Everyone said one but no. Everything closed and separate times and it was 3 massive hits. On a positive note it has helped me feel like I can breathe again and I don’t regret it

If it makes you feel better my prop management company renewed my lease when my credit score was about the same as yours without any issue, and renewed again this year with a bankruptcy on my record again without issue. A lot of the time they don't rerun your credit if you're staying in the same unit, so if you have a good history as a tenant I wouldn't stress it too much.

I’m sorry you’re going through this! System is truly messed up. You don’t mind disclosing, how much credit card or overall debt do you have?

The best decision I made was Ch. 7 bankruptcy! Got a lawyer through a state program and I’m finally released from that debt! Got a credit card 8+ months later and no longer relying on credit cards building back my credit
