@wellkindmentalhealth: Disclaimer: this video is for educational purposes only. Please consult with a licensed therapist if you are struggling with dissociation. While dissociation can be uncomfortable, it isn’t always a problem. In fact, it exists to keep you safe. It’s a protective mechanism that often becomes overactive after trauma. If you’re a new EMDR/trauma therapist wondering “do any of my clients dissociate?” The answer is an absolute yes. One of my favorite tools in assessing a client for dissociation is the color-coded DES-II that breaks the questions into the categories mentioned in this video. If you want to learn more, schedule an EMDR consultation with me (hours count toward EMDRIA certification). ##dissociate##dissociation##emdr##ptsd##trauma

Why choose?!? I've got DID and it entails all of these forms of dissociation. It's not 1 or another as being more active for me.

After I had my stillbirth last year, my psychologist said I was dissociating and it was new. She never explained why or how, I went on to see another trauma therapist for something similar to EMDR but she said I didn't feel feelings and couldn't really help me. The whole time being with a perinatal psychologist who disagreed that I didn't feel feelings. I'm on a wait-list now to see an emdria trained psychologist. Fingers crossed, but I don't even know if I need it anymore 😅🤣

Hey so I experience all of these a lot all of the time. There was one point in my life last year where I was taking meds and taking care of myself and I finally felt clarity and grounded and not dissociative….and then it slipped away and I’ve been dissociative ever since. Every. single. day. Of my life and I’m so over it I want to cry. How do I get out of this??

I’ve had all these since I was a kid. My memory has worsened to where I forget where I am going when I drive or go somewhere. Drs say it’s normal but i don’t feel it is 🥲
