@michelle.huangyy: Should you buy or rent? 🏠 Not financial advice, assumptions are just for illustration and educational purpose. Always do your own research. When you invest, capital is at risk. #buyingahome #renting #PersonalFinance
This is obviously assuming that the rent will forever be kept at 2000 a month, which of course it’s not.

Doesn't account for the 4% rent increase per year too 🙄

acting like your rent will remain the same, or that you won't move + the costs involved with this over 30 years....

firstly, in the uk, rent is more than a mortgage repayment for the same property. secondly, over 30 years rent will keep increasing. this is rubbish advice

And the assumption you’re paying the same amount in rent for 30 years; wake up from that sweet dream

Rent very unlikely to remain £2000/month over 30years!

But realistically the rent for the same sized property would be more expensive than the mortgage..

£2000/month rent doesn’t really get you the same as a £2750 mortgage though. The mortgage on my £2100/month rental flat would be around £1800 with a £55k deposit.

Such poor guidance. The rent isn’t staying at £2000!!!! It will drift upwards as house prices drift upwards. The mortgage on the other hand will always be close to £2750 and at 4% mortgage rate will be paid off in 20 years after which the full £2750 a month can be invested for 10 years

This is donkey math. The rent will go up every year, and by the time that house is worth £1.55m the rent will be £6000+ per month! 🥀🥀🥀

…and during those 30 years you can be kicked out of your house every single day and then good luck finding the same type of house for the same price. This is so silly.
