@jazzyjay_official: š®šŖ Ireland Deserves Better Healthcare Healthcare Delayed Is Healthcare Denied. Share Your Story. Demand Change. When your strength begins to fade and your faith in the health system crumbles at every turn, the waiting game becomes almost as painful as the unknown reasons why this is happening. Right now, I feel completely lost. I know there are so many people like me waiting for answers, but the reality is that there simply arenāt enough resources within our health care system and that is terrifying. I attended A&E and was told it was 14 hour wait time, so I had to return the following day. After many hours of waiting, I was given a brief examination and told by the consultant that I needed scans within 24ā48 hours. For the first time, I thought I might finally get some answers. Then I was told by a junior doctor that I would need to wait 10ā14 days for MRI scans of my brain and spine. Iāve been gradually getting worse. There are times when I struggle to even walk. Iāve tried to remain patient, but the pain has now become overwhelming. Yesterday, I called the MRI department only to be told that the waiting list is so long that I may not be seen until sometime in July. In a panic, I contacted my GP and considered going private, only to discover that the cost of the scans required is substantial. The list of obstacles just keeps growing. You donāt truly realise how broken parts of the system are until you find yourself desperately needing help and discovering that the help simply isnāt there and in some cases sometimes time is of the essence. I donāt know whether my symptoms are related to the spinal fusion surgery I had over a year ago or whether something entirely different is happening. What I do know is that Iām scared. Really scared. Iāve even been told there is little point returning to the hospital because there is nothing they can do right now. So what do I do ? I sit and wait while my body remains under constant strain and pain? This isnāt a plea for attention. Itās a personal realisation that we are facing a healthcare crisis. If anyone dares to become seriously unwell, the support they need may not be available when they need it the most. Sadly, my experience isnāt unique. Just yesterday, I read about a young girl who attended hospital after an accident and was left waiting for over 24 hours. Her family were even told to go home and return the next day, only to be made to start the entire process again. No child should be left in pain for any length of time waiting for medical care within the hospital. This is simply unacceptable. Our country is in crisis, and the government must be held accountable. Negligence causes harm. Instead of spending money on projects like bike sheds that do little to improve peopleās lives, invest in hope. Invest in healthcare. Invest in hospitals, doctors, nurses, scanners, beds, and services that people rely on when they are at their most vulnerable. I am not an expert in healthcare policy. Iām simply someone living through the reality of it. But I know when enough is enough! Seeing so many sick people lying in corridors, waiting hours upon hours for care, is not what anyone deserves. The government needs to step up, recognise this for the critical situation it is, and take meaningful action before more innocent people suffer the consequences. If you or a loved one have been affected by delays in our healthcare system, share your experience. Contact your local TDs, raise your concerns, and make your voice heard. Share your experience using #IrishPatientsCantWait and together, we can show that this isnāt just one personās story, itās thousands of people across Ireland š Change only happens when enough people refuse to accept that this is ājust the way things are.ā Our families, our children, and our communities deserve better. #hse #ireland #fyp #healthcare
