The original Greek word translated as “submit” is hypotassō, which means to voluntarily place oneself in support of an ordered relationship. It is not the same Greek word as hypakouō, meaning “obey,” which Paul uses for children and servants.
If your interpretation is that submission means absolute control and unquestioning obedience, then remember that men are also called to submit themselves to Christ. Does that mean men lose all agency and become objects of domination? Of course not.
Biblical submission is not a license for one person to rule another according to their own will. A husband is not given authority to govern his wife however he pleases; he is called to be under Christ’s authority himself. His leadership is measured by Christ’s example love, sacrifice, service, humility, and self-giving not control.
A man who is submitted to Christ cannot demand what Christ Himself never commanded.
