@sorensuorin: I followed a stranger through the streets of Marrakesh Morocco and it ended with a physical altercation. After doing research on this, I realized this is a surprisingly COMMON travel scam. We got lost in the old Medina and trusted an unsolicited person who claimed he’d show us the way out. Instead, he cornered us deep in the leather tanneries and demanded 1000 dirhams ($108 USD) for a 10 minute walk. When we refused to be extorted, he got aggressive and violent. Massive shoutout to the local Moroccan men who stepped in and told us to run. They helped us escape a bad situation. It’s also important to know that one bad person doesn’t define a whole country, but let this be your warning if you visit Marrakesh!

As an experienced travel you should know not to randomly follow anyone. The good thing of Morocco is that you can contact the autorities and they will bring you justice straight away.

As a Moroccan, Morocco is NOT a place for foreigners, almost everyonrewill try to scam you and honestly it’s pretty but extremely boring bcs beside the beach there’s nothing to do
