I have run 75 year old cars with drum brakes and original ish fluid. Not one time in my entire life have I had brake fluid fail. I do agree with every single point you have made here but let’s not pretend there aren’t millions of vehicles riding around with original fluid that still stops the car properly.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic. You can test the moisture content with a testing pen.

Well as a shop that sell brake fluid flushes I 100% disagree with Bruce here. Brake fluid in our industry has test strips that accurately tells you the condition of the fluid Honda doesn’t use these. It’s the best way to give the customer information to change or not to change. Overselling is what makes our industry crap. Why not use test strips like the ones from BG products? I’ve never had a car after testing brake fluid that needed it done before 25k. Also I drive a Honda Accord Hybrid and my fluid was changed at 60k because it was actually due.

My fusion I had for almost 8 years never had brake fluid added or flushed and never had any issues.
