It has unfortunately caused me to experience envy for those who have both of their parents *and* struggle to have empathy for others in situations involving their parents that seem so minuscule in comparison. It’s not something I’m proud of but it’s the way the grief/trauma has manifested itself.

It's extremely difficult and I wish I can talk about it. But in other hand. I don't want them to feel bad of what happened because I feel like I'm no one responsibility and I should stand as an adult meanwhile I still needs many guidance. And it become worse because you never feel like someone knows you like your mother did, or even back then, there are still a lot of things your mother doesn't know about you. So try imagine having a family trying to substitute that part meanwhile I don't want to be put as a burden. Most of the times I feel bad of myself but I also don't want to stuck in this position and I need to show up for my sister who lost her mom at 3 years old. It is quite devastating because you feel like no one is responsible fo what happened and I don't feel like I want to be responsible of my life too.

You’re the first person I’ve heard say out loud about paranoia about every other person you love passing. My dad died last year it’s so hard. Thank you for sharing!

I was 23 when mum and dad died. I still worry those I love are going to leave me and die. I envy others who still have their parents... I'm 35 now, I've lived so much life without them and became a mum for the first time without them there to support and guide me.

Someone told me “well it’s okay we are meant to lose our parents” they are 53, my mom had just turned 50, and I was only 27. Both of their parents are still alive:(

The paranoia that everyone I love is going to die. I haven’t heard anyone else relate to it. Thank you ❤️

I lost my dad at 8, he was 27. I remember growing up and thinking I always dreaded the day I turned 27. I’m 28 now and the fact I’ve outlived my dad is still a crazy thought to me!! I’ve missed him everyday since, but it’s gotten easier with time.

nobody talks about the anger in grief. yes, the paranoia of everyone passing away & the depression of someone leaving and the feeling of being alone. But the Anger! The anger of someone having their mom, the anger of not remembering their face or voice anymore, the anger of if it’s your fault or not

My mom died when I was 17, I had just turned 17 a month prior. I lost her on Christmas Eve. My jealousy is the worst around the holidays. It’s gotten better but every year I catch myself going “why do they get their mom and I don’t?”

I see so many comments about the envy for others with their parents still alive. And man let me tell you I feel that so very deeply I hate being out in public and seeing girls with their moms it shatters me inside makes this ball in my stomach, my chest gets tight and I just want to scream why me why did I have to lose my mom and theirs get to go on living. I will spend the rest of my life feeling this way and it’s nothing against these people it’s the way my grief works I will never get over losing my mother I will spend the rest of my life angry that I don’t get to have her here with me that I will get older and she will stay the same age.

Both of my parents passed a week apart when I was 25. Im an only child, all of my grandparents are also passed and my parents weren’t married at all so I was the only person “left” in my family until I had my daughter last year. And now to think I’m the oldest person in my family just baffles me.

I lost my dad at 20 unexpectedly and had to give him cpr. sometimes I envy people who still have their dad's. I feel like being in your 20s is the time a girl needs their dad the most. To help fix things, give advice, be there. Be there for your main adult milestones.

I unfortunately feel bitterness towards people who are grown adults and still have their parents. I lost my dad when I was 21. Seeing coworkers in their 40s and 50s that still have both of their parents makes me miserable. Like I didn’t get to have my dad walk me down the aisle when I got married. My dad will never meet his granddaughter. But I had a coworker who’s in her 70s lose her mom. Like what?! I would love just an extra 10 years with my dad, let alone 50?! Crazy to me.

I lost my dad at 17 and for me it’s the silent grieving that no one will ever understand. I feel disconnected from people in a way, and am always worried that everyone I care for will suddenly pass. Every big milestone comes with a painful sadness I cry about later by myself. Knowing I will get to a point where I will have lived longer without him than I had him. Wishing I learned more from him, and having to figure out so many adulting things by myself. It’s almost been 9 years and it hurts like it happened yesterday.
