Ironically my favorite comedian, Jeselnik, the only liberal minded popular comedian I’m aware of, consistently does what Wilson claims can’t be done. Wilson simply isn’t smart and witty enough to get away with it. And neither are most people. Jeselnik has even addressed this argument, because so many other comedians say it, already saying it’s a cop out excuse for comedians because it’s never stopped him from doing it. But he said the difference was he doesn’t hate marginalized groups and doesn’t feel threatened by their existence and is an ally to Trans, Gay, Immigrant, and BIPOC communities, therefore he’s not punching down and disguising hate as comedy, which the audience can 100% pick up on. Jeselnik is the darkest humored comedian I’ve seen who is as successful and popular as he is, and yet his specials still thrive. Because he’s actually funny. Wilson is lazy and not smart or funny enough to pull it off so it’s easier to blame the “comedy police” 😭
