@hausofsunflowers: Replying to @Pretty Tee🦋😍 Then leave it alone. Most people don’t have family to pass it down to them and yet they’re able to practice just fine. It’s about the bloodline, not proximity. #hoodoo #hoodoowitchtok #therootworkersformulary #rootworker
It comes naturally. And many things were practiced without saying what it was. It was just a part of our lives.

So true. I’m Mexican and I stay in my lane even though I love seeing root workers. I dropped it in my 20s because I was too cool. When I was ready to pick it up again my grandmother had dementia. I’ve had to follow my instincts and read books by written by curanderos/as to fill in the missing pieces but they do show up, you just have to be listening.

YouTube Reflections OF A Man :
One thing that has to be understood is that sometimes the person in the family that is supposed to practice can skip a generation or two. This is why people would have gifts that they didn't know how to use and needed guidance for and a non family member would recognize the gift and take them under their wing and teach them. Everyone didn't get directly from a family member. I'd also add, that teacher is an ancestor also if deceased.

Yes so true. My great grandmother who practiced it passed away before I was even born but she showed up and gave me all the recipes.

She said she wants to be taught by her ancestors…DOES SHE REALLY KNOW WHO IS AN ANCESTOR & who isn’t? At MIDNIGHT go sit at the grave and call them up so they can teach ya…if you know how to get in & out. Let the blood keep haunting those because they refuse to be trained by those their bloodline chose. 😂😂😂

This! I was first called to heal with food, then made medicines with herbs and spices. I’m sure I’ve been called. Don’t know enough yet, but I sense it.

Sometimes it could not be passed down. Personally, I wasn’t ready nor willing. I had to go through some things to become open and set aside fear. They would have known. I look back at conversations that were over my head and I realize that I still needed to grow.

I want it. Wasn’t raised with it but remember that tiktok trend a few years ago “what’s something your granny did in your childhood that you later found out was hoodoo?” Man oh man, it had my great auntie all up and through the topics people were dropping.

Same. I kept seeing, mostly feeling things that came true. It kept being more frequent throughout my life and in 2021, I believe I was activated. It pulled at me and now I’m just trying to learn and grow
