The sorting being removed sounds like a huge time saver

Wait so I need more 😂 each person’s clothing is all in one load? Like no separation? I realize I need to be more intentional about what we buy so it could all be washed together

Since having my 2nd child I now do 1 load of laundry a day. And the same, WFH so I put the load in at 7am and it’s done by 9am. Save my life! It’s folded and put away by lunch time.

This might seem like a little thing, but I really appreciate the quick added "because we're adults and we can manage that". I remember as a kid, sometimes my parents would come up with new systems and not realize that us kids had different ability levels.

We did the same with our family of 5 and once the kids were around 10, they were responsible for doing their own laundry. Wash, dry, fold, put away.

I feel like the myth of sorting laundry needs to go away.

We do similar! Everyone has their own laundry basket which makes it easier and clothes don’t get mixed up. Only towels get combined together

I started a laundry schedule a few months ago because of you! I don’t know why I always felt like we had to do all of it over the weekend. I also moved my disabled adult son’s day to when he has another caregiver here most of the day and they put it away together. So that’s a whole load that gets done and put away while I’m at work. 😂

When my kids were little, I separated their clothes in different baskets. When they were in middle school I taught them to do their own. By high school they pretty much did their own all the time. When they got to college they were surprised to find out so many kids didn’t know how to do laundry or make their own dr appointments.

I’ve been doing this for years, it’s amazing. I throw in a color catcher sheet with each load and I’ve never had an issue with colors bleeding on to whites. Each person has a day and I do towels and sheets on Sunday (works best for my schedule). It’s the best!

Also have 4 kids. I’ve done this for 10+ years! I wash towels twice a week since the kids don’t like to reuse towels. And I wash sheets on the weekend when I change the beds. So much more manageable

My parents did bedding on Sunday, clothes on Wednesday and towels on Friday. There were only 3 of us though and my dad pretty much dry cleaned everything since he wore suits everyday. Breakfast was also on a schedule for every day of the week.

Both of my kids have their own laundry baskets and there is no sorting their stuff. I also taught them how to fold their own clothes (we did it together) at 5yrs. Now they’re completly independent with laundry. Game changer.

I have a wash dry combo. Throw a load in before I go to bed, then I put away yesterday’s load. Similar idea. I just do whatever we wore that day, our family generates one load a day which is crazy

If they can work a phone and a tv, they can work a washer and dryer. Our kids started doing their own laundry when they were 7 or 8.

My mom did assigned laundry days for us growing up- I love it. I also pre-sort laundry- two different hampers so I can grab and dump. Also, my kids’ sizes are so different that when I combine, it’s not difficult to sort them. Thanks for sharing!

I do that. Each of my kids (5 kids) have their own basket and assigned day. And starting at the age of 2 they would put away (with help) their own clothes and by 5 they are independent. I also gave up the folding lol they would always unfold to find and pick the shirt the want etc so now they just put it in the given drawer/bin item shirts, pants, pjs etc have their own bin

I like the idea but I would need at least 3 per person.. a hot wash for underwear&socks, darks and lights separated and in summer one for whites. We sort the laundry and wash whatever fills a machine, one load a day. Clothes are hangdry only and i hang them on hangers out of the washer. When I have 3 dryer loads I fold it so usually midweek and once a weekend.

I have a schedule but it’s aligned to colours/whites/delicates and wool/darks/linens. But the schedule is key
