This summer in my design class, we built a self-balancing robot! 🤖⚡I made a few posts on my Instagram stories and my TikTok “Day in the Life of an EE student” showing little sneak peeks of it! It uses an Arduino Nano 33 BLE with gyroscope and accelerometer sensors to measure tilt angle. We programmed it to self-balance, correct itself when pushed, and move wirelessly via Bluetooth. It can move forward, backward, left, right. It can also go up a ramp (but let’s just say… not its best moment 😅). The most tedious part? Manually tuning the PID controllers. We simulated it in LTspice and Altium, but the values didn’t translate well, probably because the sims assume ideal components. Such a fun project though!
