@bioncasmith3: We locked eyes on highway 99. 😮 I pulled over and he smiled and waited patiently for me to cross the street to help him. I was so nervous and afraid he’d run away into the freeway and be big by traffic so I stayed calm and kept my eyes on him. For 10 minutes we kept looking at each other waiting for traffic to slow down and I noticed his worry fade. As soon as k walked across the highway, he got up and was limping over to me and my anxiety starts cease. I got him! Poor fella would not have made it cross the street ever again if I hadn’t stepped in because he couldn’t walk fast at all. That was a close call! As soon as we got to my truck, I was worried about how the most recent intake and this highway survivor we’ve named “Buck” would get along. Thankfully, the ride back to the sanctuary was a joy! I have dropped off Deputy and feed all the animals in the pouring rain. Now I’m off to urgent care hoping that we can get Buck seen sooner than later and make it back home safely. Urgent care is incredibly expensive and we are asking for our community to share this story and encourage their animal loving friends to donate to help us carry on and help Buck heal as he will be housed inside at our sanctuary. I can’t thank our angel donors enough as we approach the hardest time for dumped stray dogs in Texas.
