It's okay not to have anything to contribute, but constant silence at meetings shows you either lack communication skills or don't have anything to offer, which will not allow the right set of people to notice you.
The real deal is preparing before meetings, after every meeting, ponder on the points stated and by the next meeting you'll have something to say.
I will always say this: the ability to communicate- expressing yourself clearly is a strategic move in the corporate world, and one way to express yourself is during meetings, especially if you work in a multinational corporation.
