Yeah I love explaining to people that their last guy siliconed their lights. So now they have to repaint after changing the light. Even though these lights come with a foam ring to stop the moisture from coming in already.

You don’t silicone them. You use a water type gasket on the light. First off you can’t paint silicone and second if you ever have to get into that Light you’re damaging the ceiling. They make vapor tight fixtures for showers. Never silicone light fixtures into the ceiling. This guy made a good video to show you what not to do.

The wet rated lights come with a foam ring to prevent this… and if you are going to do this, please don’t use silicone because silicone cannot be painted… I hope they never wanna change that ceiling color.
