![The funeral of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (AS) is remembered as one of the most painful moments in the history of Ahl al-Bayt (AS). According to Shia historical sources, Imam Hasan (AS) had wished that, if possible and without bloodshed, his blessed body be taken to the grave of his grandfather, the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, for a final farewell. However, opposition arose, and reports in Shia tradition state that the funeral procession was met with arrows, preventing his burial beside the Prophet ﷺ. These accounts also relate that ʿA’ishah objected to his burial there. To avoid any conflict and in accordance with Imam Hasan’s (AS) own instructions that no blood be shed on his behalf, his body was taken to Jannat al-Baqi’, where he was laid to rest.
