This whole discourse is stupid to me because why can’t someone who enjoys the story of a game and not the gameplay not be considered a fan and same goes the other way around. Story and gameplay do go together well but you don’t have to like both to be a fan

this is such a non issue. if you can watch a playthrough and get the themes, story, and character arcs... youre fine. you can be a fan. especially if the game is basic af gameplay wise. like I see re fans be mad when people say they only watched the games as if the game mechanic isn't just running around and shooting and boss fights??? lmao it's fine. the only time I think its valid is when the ENTIRE game is only about the mechanics and you can't grasp the story without playing it

Some people can’t afford to play the games or even have a way to play them it can get expensive real fast. If the game is very story based someone watching a game play is just as much of a fan of the games as someone who played them ofc they are going to get a different experience but that shouldn’t mean they are “less of a fan” 😭 then someone else
