Luckily, the “10pm-2am” cleanup window happens for night owls, too (as long as we wake up later also). It just happens for us later than people with conventional schedules.

I always say; I might be the oldest in the gym, but I don't want to be the youngest in the nursing home...

This is incredibly good advice but i’m gonna poke one small hole in it because I am a night owl. Your body doesn’t care what hours you sleep, only that your sleep schedule is consistent. It’s changing the hours that you sleep every day that messes your circadian rhythm up, not the actual hours

I started weight lifting at 65. Still going 6 mos into it. My daughter had to help me out of bed before January of this year. Now I jump out of bed.

Psych major here specialized in neurophysiology, everybody have differents circadian rhythms, the hours at which you’re sleeping isn’t that important especially if you sleep roughly at the same time every day. The quality of your sleep (as well as how much you’re sleeping so 7-8h on average per day) is what matters, night owls exists since the human species exist and a big handful of the population have genetically different circadian rhythms than the rest of the population since humans are a collective species that needs each other to survive and work when other sleeps. The majority of “night owls” tries since they entered in school (then when entering in the work place) to force themselves to stick to the “social standards” around sleep but it just makes their life quality even worse since they work against THEIR cycles. But I agree on everything else, really useful content !
