@wiserwisdom101: They called it a drink, but it drank him first. Slowly. Quietly. Not in one night, but in a thousand forgotten mornings. It stole his laughter before it stole his health, his family before it stole his future, his reflection before it stole his name. And the cruelest part? It arrived disguised as relief, as celebration, as something to take the edge off. Until one day there was nothing left except the edge. This is the tragedy of alcoholism: not just the lives it ends, but the lives it slowly erases while they're still here. #addictionawareness #recoveryjourney #sobriety

I'm a member of this club also , after existing in a pitiful state , desperate to cling on to my humanity & sanity I finally hit my rock bottom , that was back in june 2009 , in a few days time I will be 17 years continuous sobriety, I really have had the best times off alcohol .🙌

Wow, that answer was awesome. My brain must be broken. I don't drink or use any drugs any longer, but I also don't find life to be fun or even interesting without any artificial stimulant, I just don't...

As a member of the club myself for the last 11 years it couldn’t be put more eloquently yes but more accurate - I watch this every few months - a dreadful disease who I also feel so much for who are like myself - wishing anyone who’s going through a hard time all the best - reach out if you have to -even to me ❤️

I ‘ve been sober for 34 years and this is one of the best explanation of being in this disease and winning the battle of it one day at a time!

The man had great charisma. As John Gielgud said: 'If Richard Burton came on stage with an elephant, you'd watch Richard Burton.'

wisdom comes with knowledge of self growing of who we all are , beware full of what others think as one can soon find that slippery path one day unexpectedly , there will always be someone or something in one's life that can change in a blink of a eye

You just know. Rock bottom hits you in the face like nothing you’ve felt before. Falling back in, and trying to climb back out is even harder.
