Ask for a courtesy block! We did a courtesy block and confirmed with the hotel that we wouldn’t be charged! 🙏 some don’t allow courtesy just depends!

This just isnt true at most hotels.. for my wedding they just opened up all the unbooked rooms back to the public after a certain date. 100% free and best thing i did for my wedding

I think it also depends on hotel / area you’re in too! I got married in MD and I didn’t have to pay for each room I blocked off

Courtesy blocks you don’t have to but when you reserve a hotel block it takes the rooms from being sold to the public so if they don’t get reserved unfortunately the signer is responsible.

I was lucky that I didn’t have to do that and they would add rooms until the deadline. Then they would release any rooms that were not booked as our wedding was at the hotel! 🤍👌🏻🥂 Another wedding used the same hotel for their block and the bride was upset I got the bridal suite and she didn’t 😅😅 The front desk told them, well that group is holding their wedding here.

In my area you have up until a certain date before the wedding to book the room block, after that date it’s released to the public for booking

Wow that’s crazy! In Canada if you do a room block for a wedding they just have to book by a certain date and then after that date you can’t book at that price and the unused rooms aren’t used

Depends on the hotel! As when I did this for mine in NY, and we did not have to pay for rooms that weren’t used nor needed a contract
