Where in Islam a Muslim must be clean and wash five times a day as a purity for the beginning of prayer . And the kaaba and Mosques also perfumed with oils and oud and perfumes have a special place among the Muslims as it is the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad،ﷺ

As an Arab living in Dubai, I think you’ve captured the picture well.. lattafa and other dupe houses DO NOT represent what Arabian perfumery is about, much like how the body shop perfumes don’t represent western perfumery. Having said that, lattafa do a pretty good job and have good quality long lasting perfumes and not all of them are dupes.

I had the privilege of living in Palestine over the summers in college (I was working on an archaeology site) and just the small random perfume shops in the souk were amazing. They offered complex and luxe fragrances that made me love oud, roses and frankincense. They were usually made by a single family and are totally unattainable online.

Honestly I’m from uae and I never heard about lattafa, never owned one but was quite shocked to see how hyped its to others. Not even sure where they are sold but we have amazing perfumery and dukhoon that u guys would love!

i've been trying to tell people this. I went to a perfume in Cairo Egypt more than 13 years ago and I created my own blend. I don't think people realize the history and how Middle Eastern perfumes have every right to exist in this space.

I’d recommend trying Batlah, Anfasic Dokhoon, Oman Luxury, and Al-Jazeera Perfumes. They all offer exceptional fragrances with highquality compositions, beautiful scents, and excellent performance. If you’re looking for bukhoor, maamoul, oud wood, or perfume oils, then the traditional markets (such as Al Maigliah) are the best places to visit. For easily accessible oils, Al Haramain Perfumes and Abdul Samad Al Qurashi are both good options. As for maamoul, some of the best are made by local women and are often discovered through word of mouth rather than commercial brands.

You should definitely visit Oman someday! 🤍 We have a huge perfume heritage, and brands like Amouage and Oman Luxury are actually Omani. I think you’d love learning about the history behind Omani perfumery and the craftsmanship that goes into some of the region’s most iconic fragrances.

Look at a very popular local Saudi perfume and bakhoor brand called العربية للعود it’s a deep rooted brand since 1982 they have mass produced and niche luxury collections. And بدر الحرقان is a great example of a local niche perfumer, and he uses high-quality ingredients and now has a Taif (a region in Saudi Arabia) flower perfume

My aunt lives in Saudi Arabia and she gifted my mom an attar (fragrance oil), it was a private blend and genuinely the most beautiful scent I’ve ever smelled that fills the entire house and everywhere she goes someone has to ask her what she’s wearing.

You should really visit the perfume exhibition in Kuwait. It happens twice a year, and each time it lasts for around two weeks. You’d be amazed by the huge variety of perfumes, bakhoor, home fragrances, hair mists, and body scents there. It’s honestly the biggest fragrance exhibition in the Middle East.
