I love how we’re all about “research-based methods” until it comes to later school starts for teenagers. ALL the data shows that it is bad for teens and their learning. But it’s also bad for parents and society. Places that pushed back start times had drastic drops in the number of serious car accidents in the morning.

My teacher (ex-teacher) told us she loves us, and she had a small kitchen in our classroom where we could cook, clean, and learn life skills. We were middle schoolers. (One teacher classrooms.. because it was an odd, small school)

YES! the school starting later i suffered so much in HS because I was so tired and my home life was really bad I was suffering panic attacks daily 😭 and YES SNACKS and food trucks the lunch food is just plain nasty😭 AI just needs to be gone

As a teenager with many mental health problems and self esteem issues, yes. I agree. All of this. I’ve had only like two, maybe three teacher treat kids like humans from the span of 7th grade to now. (My high school goes from 7th to graduation). They are every single kid’s favorite teachers. Wonder why.

I fully agree with the food truck thing whenever my school brought a food truck we felt the mood lighten after lunch the school atmosphere didn’t feel as suffocating and people were actually friendly with each other and the reset break should be a thing I mean come on we teenagers are people who need time to just be and enjoy our lives

I think the best days in high school for me (sophomore) is the 2hr delays. everyone is so much more focused and attentive. especially with the shortened classes

my most hated thing about schools is how educators use silent lunch or taking away breaks as punishment for a whole grad/ lunch period. Most of the kids in my class weren’t doing anything and it was maybe 10 people, we got silent lunch for 2 months
