You didn’t wreck the wall you. To scrape down the plaster that’s still there that was under that border and then re-plaster. It’ll look good as new or just scrape off the old plaster that was under it and put your backsplash up. It should be fine.

Take a strong putty knife and scrape it down, scrape off all the glue. Make sure everything is smooth and use pink spackle, a.k.a. Drydex it’s 10.50$ at Home Depot for a small one ! My hubby told me to say this he’s a sub contractor!!
