To keep a freshly filled pool from growing algae, immediately balance the water chemistry (especially pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness), add cyanuric acid (CYA) to protect the chlorine from UV sunlight, maintain a consistent free chlorine level of 1--3 ppm, and use a preventative algaecide.

The issue at hand is that factors such as sunlight, smog, and other environmental elements contribute to algae growth. I previously owned a property with a large swimming pool, and we faced significant challenges in maintaining its cleanliness. We either performed the maintenance ourselves or hired professionals to clean the pool once or twice a week. During this process, we learned that direct sunlight can promote algae growth, despite the continuous operation of the filter system. Additionally, factors such as tree pollen and other organic debris further complicated our efforts to keep the pool pristine. Given the considerable size of the pool, maintaining crystal-clear water proved to be a daunting task, even with high-quality filtration systems in place. Obama didn’t do repairs to stop the algae. Harding’s budget cuts in 1921 resulted in the Lincoln pool being built with no foundation. Obama added timber pilings (metal would rust in clay) to replace the original foundation that was sinking.
