THIS!!! No one is thinking of the rural kids. My village didn’t even have a regular bus. My friends all lived at least half an hour away. This will be so detrimental

thisnis the second video ive seen of people saying growing up in the countryside was boring and I dont get how you guys were bored. I grew ip in the countryside and I think I had a brilliant childhood. Come rain or shine I making things. ropeswimgs, racetrack, ramps, "cut grass sculptures", i could make numerous running games with just a stopwatch, a ball had so many different games. when I wasnt allowed out I read, painted, drew my own comic books, wrote, would read my dream diary back to see the dreams id forgotten

Children have lost hobbies, their hobbies are sitting scrolling. Parents have failed their children

There's nothing to do in the town or city either. They cut funding for all the community centre's and youth groups. I feel so bad for these kids

not to show my age, but when I was a teenager in the early 2010's my mum would give me 20 quid and that would buy me the bus to town and back, a McDonald's, a trip to the cinema, some sweets and maybe something from new look. 20 quid would barely get you a cinema ticket today.

THANK YOU our library was 1-1.5hrs away and we didn't have a car. We had no shop. We had no youth club. There was nothing.

reading, drawing, films, arts and crafts, video games - I'm not saying I agree with the ban, but there's so much to do that's not 'stare at a wall' or 'go out to see friends'

ban is fast and easy way out for patents. Parents should teach how to use social media, what to do and what not to do online, what is dangerous to do online. Put some rules for teens (for ex no phones after x o'clock, add real friends as friends, keep account private, pics and comments stay for ever and can hurt them and others ect)

I hate when they say “you’re gonna have so much more free time now” like I already have free time, watching TikTok is not a job I chose too do it and if there was something else for me too do I would just do that instead

Important to also remember that these are children who aren’t old enough to drive yetwhich means if you can’t get your mum/dad to drive you somewhere, you aren’t going 🤷‍♀️

i'm not british and am not saying social media is great but as a queer child that grew up in a tiny village, social media literally saved me. there weren't really any other kids like me and all other activities i did were fairly solitary (reading, writing, drawing, etc) so finding online spaces of like-minded people quite literally saved my life, after a full day at school being told i was weird and the odd one out and nobody would ever want to be my friend.

I tried to go to the local park and I got told to leave because I was "intimidating parents and scaring kids" I'm 15. I was sat listing to music. No busses on Sundays and busses every hour stopping at 5:30 on monday-Saturday and I don't have money to go shopping

As a child I grew up on a non-working farm in Ireland. I also hate getting muddy so I quite literally learnt to stare at walls & maladaptive daydream. It was better when I moved to England as I actually had close neighbours I could play with who were my age 💀

I also grew up in a village. Once you’re above a certain age, there’s nothing to do that doesn’t cost money. Heck, I’m in my mid 20s, and there’s still nothing to do that doesn’t cost money. All the hobby groups are aimed at people who are free at 2pm on a Tuesday

It is so crazy to me honestly. Like banning something that kids use in order to socialise because adults have literally banned them from "loitering" around town and parks. Like they can't go anywhere and hang out because it is loitering and now they can't socialise on social media? What are they meant to do? Like unless they're investing in community centers, even then it is a shity thing to do cause rural places just cannot have the infrastructure for that. I also lived in a rural area, it was an hour drive to go see a movie with friends :/

we had a library in my town and i practically lived there. Those kind of places have been slowly guttered of funding for years
