The platysma is one of the most overlooked muscles in the body. It’s a very thin, sheet-like muscle that sits just beneath the skin of the neck and is most commonly associated with facial expressions, like grimacing or tensing the jaw. But it may have another use. When consciously activated during certain neck exercises, the platysma can help some people create a greater sense of stability and control, especially if neck movements feel threatening or sensitive. Think of it less as “fixing” the problem and more as giving your nervous system another strategy to work with while you build strength and tolerance. A fair warning though: if you’ve never intentionally used this muscle before, don’t be surprised if it’s a little sore afterward. Tiny muscles that don’t get much attention can definitely let you know they exist. #neckmobility #neckpain #heds #eds #cci
