Dawson Williamson :
I’m 40 years old, and if there’s one thing I would give almost anything for, it’s the chance to watch Lionel Messi play in person.
As I get older, I find myself becoming more emotional when I think about the fact that one day soon, Messi will retire. Just typing these words brings tears to my eyes because he’s been so much more than a soccer player to me.
Messi was the person who taught me, from a distance, to never give up on my dreams. His determination, humility, resilience, and relentless pursuit of greatness motivated me to become the successful person I am today. Whenever life got difficult, I could look at his journey and remind myself that hard work, dedication, and belief in yourself can overcome almost anything.
People often say athletes are just athletes, but sometimes they become symbols of hope and inspiration. For me, Messi has always been that person.
I’ve been fortunate enough to witness one of the greatest athletes to ever play the game during my lifetime, and for that, I’m incredibly grateful. No matter when he decides to hang up his boots, his legacy will live on through the millions of people he inspired including me.
Thank you, Messi, for showing the world what’s possible when you never stop believing in your dreams. ⚽🐐❤️
