@cbssundaymorning: In the United States, about 40% of adults are obese — roughly 10 times the rate in Japan. CBS News' Adam Yamaguchi visits a Tokyo elementary school to see how Japan's approach to school lunch, nutrition education and healthy eating habits may help explain the difference. #Japan #Obesity #Healthy #Tokyo #Schools

I am from Japan. This is exactly how school lunches were when I was growing up. No junk food, no ultra processed food and no soda at school there.

I’m noticing how the children work together to get, serve, and clean up their own lunches. The level of discipline, teamwork, and independence is truly impressive. There seems to be such a strong emphasis on responsibility from a young age.

The U.S. could have gardens at most schools that produce organic fruits & veggies for the cafeteria to prepare. We have the resources, what we lack is the will.
