@joeythenomad_: Things people don’t tell you about living in a van Living in a van is awesome but there’s one thing that’s not so awesome about summer VanLife, the heat It’s not so easy to cool down when you basically live inside your car Usually I just spend time outside or in a river or something where it’s cooler but obviously there are times where I need to be in the van For those you can either park in the sun or in the shade if that’s an option One thing about VanLife is your always aware of things like power level and fighting to stay comfortable, and where you park has a huge effect on this Luckily you’re able to move your van to whatever you need but ya those days where battery is getting low and it’s hot out can get pretty miserable so I try to spend as little time in the van as possible Just some more VanLife insights from 5 years of living in a van Follow if you want more #vanlife #vanlifediaries #vanlifers
I build all of my vans with a solar port on the outside of the van so you can park in the shade but put panels in the sun

I made my solar system detachable. Then I move the panels into the sun. Also, paint your vehicle white on the outside

I think I would meal prep at night when it’s cooler so during the day when I have to park in the sun, I don’t have to cook while cooking 😂

Get huge pannels and park partially in the shade. Or park where you can get morning sun to charge up batteries and shade in the afternoon

You have bad system.Buy the right components from victron and you can have your ac runing and battery charging in the sun and when you drive.Spend a lot of money and you will have power for ewerything.

How many Kw is your battery system and how much are you recharging in the sun, can it support a portable ac system like this one “BougeRV 3500BTU Portable Air Conditioner”

Need solar panels with a long cord so you can park in the shade and set the panels out in the sun.

This is why I didn’t put my panels on the roof. I can run them out to the Sunny spot while I park in the shade. Also, I was so paranoid about leaks. I didn’t wanna put any holes in my roof.

Get a generator. I know the noise is annoying but worth it.

This is why I now advocate for more battery capacity and less solar. Also this is where a dc to dc charger would help a lot.
