When Muslim Filipino villagers fled into a volcano crater to escape the killing, the army found them. Three hundred men, women, children, and babies were massacred. Over 200,000 Filipinos were killed during that period in total. The language used to justify the killing of children was identical to what we hear today. Dr. Maté's point is not simply historical.
