I view love less as a hunger and more as a an existence. I don’t need a cell phone to survive, but it makes my life better having one. As far as wanting love goes, you said it yourself: love for another person is the revealing of beauty in that person, which can be fostered. As far as the question of what good is is tricky. Good is happiness but it is also morality. Good should really be split into happiness and morality. Because I feel people mistake good as the intersection of a venn diagram between two circles of happiness and morality. Really it’s the whole thing. If good is only the intersection then it implies that something that is moral but doesn’t bring happiness isn’t good and vice versa.

that perfectly explains why i’m bothered when people try to define “love” for what it shouldn’t be, calling for the lack of what it actually is (love doesn’t hurt, love isn’t selfish etc) but in my opinion love has nothing to do with that, and those are misguided attributions 🎯
