I’m 57 years old. I dress up for work everyday, probably dressier than most. My hair and makeup are always done. I get mani/pedis on a regular basis. I feel good when I dress nicely. I’m not trying to dim anyone’s light. Just today…I walked into restaurant to get take out. An older lady was walking passed me and stopped and leaned in and said…”you look absolutely fabulous.” Complete stranger. It’s not the first time it’s happened either. I also think it’s my energy as well. My mom, grandmother, and aunts would dress nicely as well.

Girl, my Granny too till she was 88 when she passed. Every day she put on makeup & got dressed even if she was just cooking all day . she said “always show up for yourself even when you have nowhere to go”🤍🤍🤍

I used to work at Nordstrom and my fave customers were the abuelas who would iron their cash into crisp bills and spray them with perfume. Elegance and femininity to the max. I'll never forget it.

My mom and her side of our family was this way… My mom is always dressed up even going to the grocery store, the doctor, and my house ❤️

There is nothing wrong with wanting to be dolled up when you go out about in town. That being said, it should not be a requirement to feel good. I feel good not doing all of those things. I don’t enjoy wearing makeup and being perfectly dressed. I want to be comfortable I feel my best when I feel comfortable. Your points are valid but not doing this is also okay.

I have a great aunt like that. She was so old but still beautiful!! She always had her hair nails and make up done and she always dressed so well with all of her accessories. I always admired her and that’s probably why I always keep my appearance up so well

I always wear makeup, when I stay home or when I go out, just because I feel complete when I do. And my number one rule of thumb is, always dress event appropriate. You can never go wrong.
