As someone who grew up in Kansas in the 80’s/90’s, this is me learning he is taught as a bad person elsewhere? Like, here we gloss over his death and we talk about his abolition work and courage. We have reenactments and he is painted in a huge mural in our statehouse.

My teacher used John Brown to show how pictures can be biased. The one our textbook had showed him crazed. Man was a hero deserving statues in his honor.
