I stumbled on this to defuse a an argument my two sons were having in the car. I started singing "John Jacob jingle heimer schmidt" which gets louder on every repeat... soon I was yelling as loud as they were and singing full blast. they both stopped and listened and started laughing. it became my new habit and they usually stopped and started singing it with me.

When my girls were little and started to argue, I would very loudly make up a song in full opera mode. They stopped and laughed 90% of the time, and it gave my brain a second to calm down.

My toddler was trying with his entire might not to let me change his diaper and i was getting so pissed off but then i just started singing You Need To Calm Down by TS to both of us and he stayed still!

I do this. I also take a deep breath in and release it slowly. I have caught my toddler doing that when he does an “uh oh”

I did this this morning! Mr 2 was not wanting to get dressed but we had to leave the house. Sung a song about each step and boom, dressed and out the door on time. 😂
