Take this as a sign to stop smoking. You might not smell it but to a non smoker we can smell it from a mile away. Also take it as a sign if strangers can smell it on you it’s not fair for your children to be around that. It’s best for yours and their future.

Hey so I don’t care how strong the smell is. The rule was not to smoke on the property. Not to not SMELL like smoke on the property. They didn’t break any rules and were wrongfully kicked out. If you want to enforce a rule, EVERY SINGLE requirement of that rule need to be plainly stated for your guests. “Don’t smoke on the property” means don’t smoke on the property and they didn’t.

As someone who doesn't smoke, you can 100% still smell it on people afterwards. However you respected their rules (if there isn't more to this) and they can't expect smokers to not smoke at all during a stay, they can't control what you do in public.
