@just_destiny19: I put little baby out of the road then parked my car and walked back since there was someone waiting behind me. I carried her further away from the road in their yard. Deer won't reject the baby if it's touched by a person, the mama is usually around and was probably watching this interaction. As someone who has saved lots of babies, their mama always comes to their rescue and takes them to safety.

Guys a mama deer will NOT reject her baby if it’s touched !! If I’m correct, the mama deer often hides away from the baby while watching it, since a tiny deer can hide from predators better when it’s not with a big deer. After the poster left, mama likely checked on baby or saw baby still moving and forgot about it

People saying the mother will reject the fawn.. it’s an old myth. Deer don’t reject fawns from human smell. She saved it from the road, and the mother is almost certainly watching and waiting for everyone to go away. they’ll be reunited soon!

The people saying the mother will reject it if it smells your scent aren’t completely wrong. Its not that the mother will want to reject it. Baby deers have very little scent compared to adults so predators wont find them, when a human touches it it’s basically a bright neon sign saying “there is dinner right here!” So the mother will probably have to make the horrible decision to leave it because otherwise herself will get killed along with the baby. People think they’re helping them but honestly you just put a target on their back. Don’t touch them!
