Do you think it would be better or worse to take Lorenzo on a walk and carry Elroy with you so he got used to the routine and new smells before actually walking? Maybe also try some walks together around the yard with Lorenzo so he understands what’s happening?

my suggestion...you could try walking him around in a wagon. let him experience the smells and sound but feel safe as well.

This may be a topic for a bit further down the road, but have you considered anxiety meds for brave little Elroy? My extremely fearful shelter pup started on anxiety meds about 3mo ago after having her for 2 years, in those few months she has made LEAPS of progress. It doesn't take away fear, but it gives her a higher threshold before she would shut down from fear, and lets her discover that maybe everything isin't so scary

I really love watching your posts about Elroy. He is so lucky to have you as his kind and patient foster parents and your other dogs showing him the way. I am in Australia and we adopted an ex laboratory beagle called Lester in February and we love him to bits!
