its true that the pledge isnt legally required but in a lot of places people will be pissed at you for not doing it. Even though they’re not legally allowed to there are plenty of teachers and admins that will make you feel like it is compulsory.

Well, we had a kid in my second grade class who did not want to say the pledge of allegiance was ridiculed and bullied, so there is a lot of peer pressure to do this.

you kind of are forced to repeat the pledge. not by law but by being ostracized by your peers and teachers, peer pressure, etc. hard things to overcome in elementary school.

Hey, so, building materials are highly regional. Brick is very common in Virginia, concrete in Florida, stone in Pennsylvania, etc.

You are absolutely forced to do the pledge. Teachers do not let you sit out. Also the wood houses allow for extra ventilation which European houses lack which is why lüften is so common in Germany but never a problem in America

I got sent to the office and like third grade for not saying the pledge? schools don't care about the students rights to expression.

I had to run a lot of errands today (here in the US.) Wasn’t having a particularly great day. I have to say, the various cashiers wishing me a good day really helped lift my spirits. 🙂

I stopped saying the pledge of allegiance in 8th grade. It got me sent to the principals office every single day I didn’t say for the whole year. I never said it since

I was absolutely forced to do the pledge for all of elementary school, 3 different schools. You don’t do it, you got punished with losing recess, bathroom privileges, timeout etc or called out and forced to say it in front of the whole class or some other form of embarrassment. Eventually I refused to even stand up.. like it can’t get any worse anyway so whatever

One thing about the pledge is that in school most schools I’ve been too (I’ve been to 4) they all will give you a punishment for not standing up or will repeatedly ask you to until you stand up

ik you don’t have to do the pledge, but I’ve heard the students who chose not to get a rough time from everyone who does? like there’s social pressure ?
