@newslionsa: Why don’t Western schools teach African history? Late author Maya Angelou stresses its importance in this clip from 1968 and offers a classic example of the continent’s rich pre-colonial past. Sadly, it’s still missing from classrooms around the world. A 2023 Forbes report found, "Many American school children matriculate through our educational system with little knowledge of the African past and its significance to world history." Angelou says understanding this heritage is not just an academic exercise but is vital to restoring pride, confidence and self-worth among Black people whose past has often been erased, distorted or ignored. #MayaAngelou #Africa #History #BlackCulture #PanAfricanism

🇰🇪Hello to the next generation..If you ever come across this comment, I just want you to know that we really tried...we really did🥹.. life wasn't easy for us things were expensive, opportunities were limited, and sometimes it just felt like we were just trying to survive each day, no help from anybody.. people didn't believe in us 🥹..just Us everyday pushing ourselves 😓but even in all that we still have dreams, we still smile and we kept going...if things are better for you just smile and pray God, if they're not please don't give up. you're stronger than you think just like us🥹..take care of yourselfs, be kind to people, don't look down on yourself, don't spend money where you are supposed to say okay🥹..don't stay where you're not valued, choose yourself over and over again🖤🖤 This is from a generation that refused to give up🥹❤️..
