@drdavidmorris: Could Ice Be Slowing Your Healing? Ice packs have been the go-to solution for injuries for decades. But newer discussions in sports medicine and regenerative medicine are challenging whether icing always supports optimal recovery. Researchers continue exploring inflammation, tissue repair, injury healing, PRP therapy, stem cell therapy, joint recovery, and regenerative health to better understand what helps the body heal naturally. The real question may not be how fast swelling goes down... But what happens next. 💬 Do you automatically grab an ice pack after an injury? 👇 What's the best recovery tip you've ever received? #InjuryHealing #PRPTherapy #StemCellTherapy #SportsMedicine #RegenerativeMedicine #RecoveryScience #murfreesboro #magnoliamedicalcenter #rootcause #fyp #viral
I understand what you are saying here, but what about excessive swelling and a management. Swelling to the extent that it impedes movement? Most pain relievers are anti inflammatory in nature aren’t they?? Just asking for more information. Thank you.

So basically after laser treatment, don’t use ice? I had to for a short period because of the swelling. But maybe that’s why provider told me just small amnt of ice if swelling was bad

It’s true, ice and rest temporarily help with the pain but they do delay the healing process

Thanks for sharing this. What about anti inflammatories? Will they also delay healing?

I use an ice pack for the muscle spasms I get in the middle of my back and it works better than the heat pad! it's not an injury.

As a terrible patient...after two rotator cuff surgeries and a miniscus tear surgery. I didn't ice and I bounced back to work in half the time recommended

This reminds me of a fever. Your body turns up the temp to “burn” away infection and then we take something to take down the fever. 🤒

I sprained ankle and our coach told me to do not baby nor ice it. I slowly started massaging it and light stretching. Boy, I recovered so much faster!
