@sacramentourbanmedia916: A Florida couple who discovered the baby they welcomed through IVF was not biologically theirs has reached a custody agreement with the child’s genetic parents, allowing them to continue raising the little girl as their own. Tiffany Score and Steven Mills became parents to a daughter, Shea, in December 2025. However, genetic testing later revealed that the child was unrelated to either of them, leading the couple to file a lawsuit against the former Fertility Center of Orlando, operated by IVF Life, Inc., which shut down earlier this year. According to court documents filed in Orange County on June 12, Score and Mills and Shea’s biological parents have agreed on a custody arrangement that keeps the Florida couple as the child’s primary caregivers. The families also expressed a desire to build a positive relationship moving forward. Attorney Jack Scarola said the agreement has helped resolve uncertainty surrounding Shea’s future and credited public attention to the case for helping identify the child’s biological parents. The identities of those parents will remain private to protect both their family and Shea. The lawsuit alleges that one of Score and Mills’ embryos was mistakenly swapped, resulting in an unrelated embryo being implanted during IVF treatment in March 2025. After Shea’s birth, the couple became concerned when the newborn’s appearance suggested she might not be genetically related to them. DNA testing later confirmed their fears. The couple is seeking damages from IVF Life, Inc. and former clinic director Dr. Milton McNichol. Their lawsuit also calls for broader genetic testing and notification of former patients to determine whether other embryo mix-ups may have occurred. Court filings submitted this month claim newly obtained records point to laboratory and clinic mistakes that may have contributed to the incident. The couple has since transferred one of their remaining embryos to a different storage facility. The fertility clinic previously stated it was cooperating with an investigation into the error and remained committed to helping determine how the mix-up occurred. The company has declined to comment further following the custody agreement.#fyp #viral
