Khenpo Norbu Gyeltshen entered the Punthim Dratshang at a young age and diligently pursued his monastic education. He studied grammar and related disciplines at Tango Shedra and later received extensive instruction in Buddhist philosophy from the late scholar Khenwang Lekshed Jamtsho Rinpoche. Thereafter, he spent many years under the guidance of Khenchen Kunga Wangchuk at Dzongsar Shedra in India, engaging in rigorous and profound study of the major Buddhist treatises. Subsequently, he received numerous empowerments (wang), oral transmissions (lung), and pith instructions (tri) from eminent masters, including Kyabje Tenzin Dondrup, Kyabje Jigme Choedra, and Vajra Master Sonam Gyamtsho. He also successfully completed the traditional three-year retreat on two occasions. Following the command of His Holiness the Je Khenpo and the Central Monastic Body, he served with unwavering dedication as the Principal of Semtokha Shedra and later as the Head Principal of Sangchen Chokhor Higher Buddhist College. For more than two decades, he has devoted himself to the preservation, promotion, and advancement of Buddhist learning and scholarship, making significant contributions to the flourishing of the Buddhadharma.
