The original change goes Abm7 Gb7 F7 E7 to Ebmaj7, I'm just thinking of Ab7 Db7 to Ebmaj7 instead. F7 E7 to Ebmaj7 is basically a variation of Fm7 Bb7 Ebmaj7 II V I. Gb7 is a half step above F7, so it's just an approach chord. So on my mind, I have just II V I, then back door II V Abm7 Db7 perfectly fit as a substitution as it even starts from Abm7.
