But nobody really talks about preparing for you. The version of you that won't want that first year to end. The version of you that might suddenly realise time is moving far quicker than you ever imagined. And nobody tells you that if you wanted more options, you needed to start creating them before you needed them. Because by the time I realised I wasn't ready to go back to work and leave her... My maternity leave was ending. Looking back now, if I found out I was pregnant tomorrow, I'd spend those 9 months doing one thing differently. I'd learn a skill. Not because I'd be trying to build some huge business. Not because I'd be trying to replace my income. But because I'd want something of my own quietly growing in the background. Something that could give me choices later on. That's exactly why I started learning about digital products and Canva during my second maternity leave.. Things like planners, invites, courses etc And what made it actually feel doable for me as a busy mum was realising I could start with ready-made products while learning and building confidence 🙌 And that one decision has gone on to allow me to: Extend my maternity leave Clear debt Reduce my working hours right down & create extra income from home The biggest lesson I've learnt after two maternity leaves?
