Preston was failed by the very people who were meant to love, protect and care for him. His story is heartbreaking, and it serves as a painful reminder of why child protection, safeguarding, and accountability matter. Today, we honour Preston’s memory. We say his name. We remember that behind every headline was a beautiful child who deserved safety, kindness, happiness, and the chance to grow up. As we reflect on what would have been his 4th birthday, let us also raise awareness of the importance of recognising and reporting concerns about child abuse and neglect. Every child deserves to be heard, protected, and loved unconditionally. Happy 4th Birthday, Preston. 💙 You should still be here. People may think that just because I have a child in the very same system that I don’t have a right to be affected by such a tragic loss. That is not the case. I am still a human being. I still care. I still have feelings. I still have my own opinions, thoughts, values, morals and understanding. I love my child unconditionally. I care about my child in a way that words could never even describe.
