Why do you assume they buy all of the assets, why would you bother yourself if you had more than enough anyway. Also on death the wealth will dissipate back into society. The Guinness families largest wealth was from 1886 to 1927. Where will Elon musk wealth go?It dissipates cycle of life.

I mean if you checked history of some countries such as USA, Japan, Germany etc then you can see the most successful and glorious era is when Billionaires (B not M) were heavily taxed so wealth are distributed evenly especially to middle-class income.

@Hilbil.dotty: We need a land tax: then people with lots of properties have to pay. This will reduce house prices cos it won’t be worth it for wealthy landlords. They will have to invest elsewhere, encourage them to invest in industries. Then the working classes can benefit. By w.c. I mean anyone who works.

Exactly right. My husband and I have an ISA each both will a modest amount or ‘emergency’ money in. He was diagnosed with rapidly evolving multiple sclerosis 5 years ago and had to stop working. He is severely disabled now and I have had to leave work to be his carer. The money in our emergency fund is going to be taxed now above £1200 rather than £20000 because we are under 65. We are not super rich and this hits us whilst the super rich pay virtually no tax at all. How is that fair?
