I keep coming across The Odyssey, and every time I’m tempted to buy it, I remember I already have a stack of unread books waiting for me! But my curiosity is getting the better of me. I feel a bit left out not being able to join these conversations or have an opinion on it yet.

I love when Eumaeus the loyal slave accepts Odysseus when he is disguised as a beggar and still shows him unconditional kindness, without even knowing his master has finally come home. I equally love the moment Eumaeus realises Odysseus has finally returned and he bursts into tears

Good choice!! Personally I love the Book of the Dead where he tries in vain to embrace his mother’s spirit, and also meets a series of poor women of mythology- they don’t usually get much of a voice!

Yes indeed, such a heartbreaking moment...💔 As a Greek, especially having read it in both Modern and Ancient Greek...the reunion between Odysseus and Telemachus is my favorite part of the Odyssey.
